Spanish Lessons For Karen/ James Rides again/ Puffins

Soooooo I've been told to blog again... mostly becasuse it's 1:04 AM after a long day and mom doesn't wanna. 12:04 Our time. 11:04 using Ontario time as an excuse to forget that we didnt need to add an hour time. But late. I assume by now you've grown weary of readng and took a quick break to watch the video. If you didn't please go ahead, I'll wait. Done yet? No? then why are you reading this? Go watch it. Now... go go. Why are you still here? Move it! Watched it? Ok then, pop quiz what temperature was it in the room? If you answered anything other than "Freakin hot" you didn't watch to the end of the video. Go back and try again, do not pass go do not collect $200. Are you done yet? Good. Well that's about long enough to count as a blog. Nighty night. Oh I spose I ought to e'splain the video. Uhhh Aunt Karen has a mexican speaking girl coming on exchange, she was telling her over webcam (very loudly, apparently you can only hear in mexico IF WE TALK LIKE THIS) about our boat ride today (fine I'll tell you about that later) and when something was lost in translation she tried to search for the spanish word for Boat. Mom asked me what it was to which I absent mindedly joked Boat-a. So aunt Karen says "ON A BOAT-A." Terry hasn't laughed that hard in a while. I of course was innocent of the matter, thinking that she would realise I was kidding. It's barco if you were wondering. My sides hurt. Oh and about the boat thing, well Aunt Karen has a friend who took us out in his boat-a, half the group at a time, and we saw PUFFINS, and seals, and puffins, and we rode on the actual ocean (which was neat in and of itself), and saw puffins, and mom thinks she saw a porpoise but I think she's crazy; then again both could be true. Oh and mom saw puffins. She was very excited by the puffins. Puffins. They're a cute bird. I mean just listen to the name. Puffins. In't that adorable? Then we pulled into Yarmouth harbour in the boat-a, saw some scallop fisherman, and a rock weeder (basicaly picks seeweed for a living... gross) and we swapped with the other half o' family plus mom and Aunt Karen. So to kill the time while mom and Aunt Karen got a second ride.... and we didn't, nope, just got ditched at the wharf, all alone, just grace, and Tady Turchill, and I. Well to kill the time we basically bummed around Y Town, went to a park, read some reaaaaally old gravestones, chilled under the town clock with the town's gangsta's... all three of them. Puffins. And got some CANDY at Toot's, the greatest store this side of the army navy store where you buy a stop sign, put it up at the top of the hill, get a spy glass and say "look Martha we caught somebosy down there." If you're still reading this you're either Sonia and are laughing hysterically, have no life, or are Christa... yaaaaaa. Well that was the Boat-a ride. Oh and then we totally went the beach dude. I'd have brought you a jar of sand but, well, this ain't exactly Florida... s'more like a bucket of mud. oh speaking of s'mores that is how we topped off our day (after catching and killing and eating some crabs and multiple periwinkles {ta's snails for you land lubbers [and Escargot for the frenchies]}) eatin' s'mores at Autie and Uncle Mikes camp site. Oh yah and APPLES TO APPLES. And boat-a. That's all I got. Puffins. Oh and does anybody know if I already have a Nova Scotia spoon? Cuz I bought one, and a Yarmouth one, but I feel like I already have a NS one... let me know.

Day Two ~ Continued by Carla

James was just finished writing his blog as we pulled into our campground in Penobsqis (pen-ob-squish) NB. Man were we in for a treat...a very "mary's castle" like treat! Our wee cabin sat perched on a slight hill and although it looked rather small it was really was cute...from the outside...

James' first question was..."do we only have one cabin?" All I could think about was how much my sister must have giggled at the thought of her "non-camper" sister sleeping in this cabin!!

We found out that they, (my sister and her family & Glen and the boys) were gone to Fundy National Park and were on the way to see the Hopewell Rocks. We quickly off loaded and jumped in the car for another hour long ride. We had to hurry because the tide was due back in soon. I was well worth the race! The most amazing sights and breathtaking views! We had to stop at our first sight of water in Alma take pictures and then off we went again!

On the way back to our camp site we of course stopped by the shore and bought lobsters!! I was quickly dubbed "Camper Carla" by my pain-in-the-neck sister and after sleeping with earewigs I think I earned the title!! So much to write and so much more to do will let the pictures do the talking and write more later!

Day Two ~ By James

Day one... I mean two, I lost track. Anyway, here we are in the car on the way to Nova Scotia and my legs are starting to go numb. The stay at the hotel was nice, big room, comfy bed. Would've slept like a baby if I hadn't been paired with Mr. Roll Myself In The Sheets Bellamy, or Rylan for short. Hang on I gotta ask Terry something... Ok, apparently we're not there yet. I swear those children in the back seat are going to kill each other before this is over, there has been an ongoing struggle over who's lap the blankets and pillows get shoved on, which is always ended by me reaching back and putting them back in the trunk where they came from. Then after five min'utes they get cold and need some blankets an pillows. There has also been an abundance of "Ow "Sorry Sorry Sorry" "HE HURT ME" "I SAID SORRY" and the occasional whispered utterances of such profanitites as "Meanie" and "Poopyhead." I've also noticed these children have a particular knack for going from completely silent to outrageously loud. For example: litterally thirty seconds ago we were driving along quietly when grace saw some hay, and lost no time in informing us of her disocvery by screaming "HAY" loud enough to make me glad I was wearing a seat belt lest I should hit the cieling. Rylan has busied himself by staring at the back of the seat in front of him... he does lead such an interesting life.

Meanwhile Mom and terry live blisfully seperated from the bickering squad by an entire row. Most of their time is spent trying to tune out the white noise outta the back seat so they can read the maps they printed of the internet. Only two or three missed turnpikes so far, not too shabby. Right about now we're discovering that our map doesn't actually know where the campground is, luckily the fourth construction guy we asked knew. I better pack this up, I'd like to have my shoes tied when the car stops so I'm ready to run away. I'll let you know if I actually get any lobster, between my aunt, my uncle, and my mom I don't like my odds. Tata

Day One

So we are safe in our hotel room in Edmundston. We just tucked the kids in after having a late supper and swim. James has gone downstairs with his pool que on his back and we are all feeling quite tired.

We are so thankful for the way our day went. Although we didn't get away as early as we had hoped and we forgot a "few" things that my folks will bring with them later this week, it all went quite smoothly.

The drive is beautiful...we live in a grand country and it is amazing how each section of the provinces have their own signature look. The concrete of Montreal rolled into hills and greenery as the church steeples dotted the landscape of Quebec. We are just inside New Brunswick and

the farmlands are streching around us.

The children traveled well.

As I prepared for this trip I gained a whole new respect for my Mother who prepared for the trip home with us every summer. We traveled to Newfoundland and Nova Scotia with us 4 kids across ONE bench seat. We had no videos to watch and no games to play and no Auntie Christa to prepare gift bags to entertain us which included a joke for each day of our trip!! NO SIREE!! We just read until we were ready to vomit and then we would count head lights or sing The Candy Man!!

Anyway...all that to say the kids did well and we barely stopped. They are anxious to reach their cousins at the camp ground tomorrow and then on to Yarmouth on Wednesday...

Please continue to keep us in your prayers. We are hoping that we will be able to relax and enjoy a sweet time as a family!

Happily~Carla
